Brief History:

is located in southeast Riyadh. It was established in 1999 and covers more than 30,000 square meters. The mosque features a modern take on Islamic architecture and includes a 9-meter high main prayer hall, five domes, and a large courtyard surrounded by 21-meter high minarets. It also contains a central library, a bookshop, a lecture room, a teaching wing, and a calligraphy wing. Further facilities include a large auditorium, an Islamic studies research center, and a medical center. It is one of the most famous mosque in Saudi-Arabia which you must visit.

Architecture:

Princess Latifa Bint Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Grand Mosque (also known as the Jeddah Grand Mosque) is a modern mosque located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The mosque was designed by the renowned Saudi architect, Ahmed Mohammed Al-Karir, and constructed by the national contractor, Binladen Group. The mosque is one of the largest in Saudi Arabia, with a total built up area of 70,000 square meters. The domed shaped mosque also has three towering minarets which rise up to 80 meters above the surface of the mosque. The main prayer hall of the mosque measures about 40 meters in diameter and can accommodate over 5,500 worshipers. The overall interior of the mosque is beautiful and its design reflects a combination of contemporary and traditional architectural styles. The inner walls of the mosque are adorned with Islamic calligraphy and other Islamic patterned decorations. The main prayer hall of the mosque also houses a gilded ceiling dome which is adorned with Quranic verses, intricate Islamic carvings, and various Islamic symbols. The mosque also features a large courtyard for the worshipers to use during their prayers. This courtyard measures about 4,200 square meters and can accommodate up to 1,200 people. Additionally, there is also a large area for the congregation’s ablutions. Aside from the main prayer hall and courtyard, the mosque also features several other facilities such as a library, classrooms, an amphitheater, a youth and tourism center, a VIP and delegates hall, a multiplex cinema, and a health center. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

Princess Latifa Bint Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Grand Mosque in Saudi-Arabia is open for visitors from 8:00AM to 12:00PM and 4:00PM to 8:00PM. Please note that visitors are not allowed to stay after 9:00PM on Fridays. best mosque in the world.
