: Located in Al-Medina Al-Munawara, Masjid Al-Warood is a large and historic mosque that was established by the second Abbasid Caliph, Abu Ja'far al-Mansur. Architecture:

Masjid al-Warood is located in the center of the Holy City of Medina, Saudi Arabia. Built by King Fahd ibn Abdulaziz Al Saud (1921-2005), it is one of the largest mosques in the world, with a capacity to accommodate an estimated 2 million worshippers. The mosque is constructed of Arabian-style brick and lime mortar, with block stone and concrete as the main building materials. Pillars surround the outside of the mosque, with open arcades on the ground floor and enclosed gallery levels. The main prayer hall is a large area enclosed by intricately decorated walls and decorated by marble and gold-plated walls and columns. The mihrab (niche) marks the direction of prayer towards Mecca. A marble railing surrounds a courtyard and at the center is the Kaaba. Fountains line the courtyard walls and are designed for both ablution and decorative purposes. To the north of the main prayer hall is the second enclosure, which contains minarets and a green dome. This enclosure is surrounded by a large marble outer wall topped with crenellations. The mihrab and minaret stands in the center of this enclosure and is visible from the main prayer hall. The mosque is completed with several other structures, including a Qur’an library, a clock tower, shops, and a library. On its western side is the mausoleum of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This mausoleum features several minarets and two large domes topped with intricate gold designs. The mosque has a variety of lighting effects from sunrise to sunset, which highlight its golden spires and magnificent construction. The mosque also offers an incredible view of the city of Medina, which is enhanced due to its high elevation. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
