Masjid al-Ghamamah, often known simply as Ghamama Mosque, is an Islamic mosque located in Medina, Saudi Arabia. It was originally built by the first Caliph, Abu Bakr. The mosque was given its name due to its large dome, which resembles a large cloud, or "Ghamama" in Arabic. The mosque is a popular destination for pilgrims who visit Medina and it is one of the first mosques to be constructed in the city. Architecture:

The Masjid al-Ghamamah mosque is located in Medina, Saudi Arabia, and was built during the time of the Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab. It is one of the oldest mosques in the world, and it has been preserved in its original condition for over 14 centuries.The mosque has a rectangular walled structure, with two minarets located at either side. The mosque’s two arches are supported by twelve columns. The walls of the mosque are decorated with verses from the Koran and other Islamic calligraphy. The mosque’s main feature is a covered courtyard lined with eight-stoned decorated pillars. One of the pillars features a marble pulpit that is believed to contain the footprint of the Prophet Muhammad. Adjacent to the courtyard is a minaret, measuring about eight meters high, with a door on the ground floor that leads to the prayer hall. The prayer hall is large, with a dome of sky-like blue tiles at its centre. It contains several rows of seven carved pillars. The mihrab (the niche in the wall that is used to indicate the direction of Mecca) is built of marble and is decorated with intricate patterns. Lastly, the mosque has a library, which was once home to many of the Islamic teachings and commentaries. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
