The interior of the mosque has a series of nine domes which are illuminated by natural light which reflects the traditional star-shape of the masjid. The mosque’s open space allows worshippers to gather around the Kaaba. The prayer hall of the mosque has a special area, called the Haram, where the Holy Quran is read. This area is located at the center of the mosque, and people must take off their shoes before entering. In addition, the mosque also contains a library, a medical center, a shelter, and various other amenities for worshippers. In addition to these features, the mosque also contains a series of steps that lead to the rooftop, which can be used for respite or to take in the panoramic views of Mecca.
