St. Isidore's dates back to the 12th century, and was part of the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria in Trastevere. The interior of the church was completely redesigned by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1650, however, much of the facade has remained relatively intact over the centuries. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Saint Lucia.
