St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church is a parish of the Archdiocese of New Orleans located in Metairie, Louisiana. The church was established in 1951. It is one of the best churches in Saint Lucia which you must visit.

History:

 St. Benedict's was founded in 1951 to serve the Catholic community of Metairie. It was the first Catholic Church founded in the area since the 19th century. The first Mass was celebrated by Father Thomas Kehoe on Easter Sunday, 1951. The original church building was erected in 1953 and its first parish priest, Reverend Lawrence Schultheis, was appointed in 1954. Through the years, the original church building has been modified several times to accommodate the growth of the parish. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Saint Lucia.

 • The existing church is the fourth iteration of the original building located on Causeway Boulevard. • St. Benedict’s has a rich history of service to the community, offering Mass on weekdays, Saturday and Sunday for parishioners of all ages. • The church houses a youth ministry, an RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program, music ministry, two choirs, and several outreach programs. • In addition to its regular weekday and Sunday Masses, St. Benedict's also offers a Spanish-language Mass on Sunday mornings.
