Church of Christ, Gros Islet is a Christian congregation in Saint Lucia, founded in 1963. The church originally began as a mission work of the Church of Christ in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was initially under the care of the Church of Christ in Tamarac, Florida. Today, Church of Christ, Gros Islet stands firmly rooted in its rich history, with a strong commitment to continually serve and give back to the community. History The Church of Christ, Gros Islet was founded in 1963 during a period of tremendous spiritual renewal in Saint Lucia, following heavy immigration of Christian families in the 1950s and 1960s from other Caribbean Islands. The members of the new church shared a deep commitment to Jesus Christ and the Bible, and desired to reach out to every corner of Gros Islet with the message of hope and love found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Church of Christ Gros Islet steadily expanded over the years and gradually moved to larger premises, eventually finding a home in 2000 in a larger space in the heart of Gros Islet. Today, the church proudly operates its own school, building, and church hall, and is a hub of community activity, providing services and resources to many in the community.
