History:
The Church of Saint Gregory of Nazianzus was established in 1955 by Father George D. Dikaios and a small group of Greek Orthodox faithful. The founders approached the Archbishop of Athens, Greece, for a charter and a priest to serve their community at 1333 12th Street, NW. Archbishop Athenagoras, the first hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America, granted their request and appointed Father Dikaios as the pastor of the new parish. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Rome.

The Church of Saint Gregory of Nazianzus promotes the development of adherent Orthodox Christian fellowship in general, and particularly for Greek-American Orthodox Christians. According to the church's official website, the parish is made up of over 200 families, who meet on Sunday mornings for divine liturgy ("service"), as well as special gatherings throughout the year.
Services:
In addition to weekly worship services, the church offers Sunday School, a youth and young adult fellowship, church-wide gatherings, guest speakers, and educational classes for all ages. The parish has several programs for the Greek Orthodox communities in the Greater DC Metro area, and is a strong advocate for Orthodox Christian faith and unity.This beautiful church in Rome has made a lot of significance in the past.
