Villa romana dell’Infernaccio is a Roman villa located near the town of San Vito al Tagliamento in northeastern Italy. It forms part of a larger archaeological site known as Torre di Mezzo and is believed to have been constructed during the first century AD. The villa takes its name, “Infernaccio”, from the legend that the early inhabitants of the area referred to it as “the lower place of Hell.” The villa contains a number of interesting features including a complex mosaic floor, frescoed rooms and a courtyard which is decorated with sculptures and fountains. It is a popular tourist attraction and offers visitors the opportunity to experience the culture and life of the Roman period.
