The Rome–Naples high-speed railway is an under-construction high-speed line connecting the Italian cities of Rome and Naples. It will be 264.3 km (164.3 mi) long and form part of the Italian trunk line from Turin and Milan to Naples and Bari. The line is expected to cut the journey time between Rome and Naples from the current three-hour journey to a mere one-hour journey. The project is being developed by a consortium of leading Italian engineering companies including: AnsaldoBreda, Italcertifer, Italproject and Tecnimont. When completed it will be one of the most advanced high-speed lines in Europe, featuring tunneling structures, advanced signaling systems, and cutting-edge monitoring and control systems.The construction of the line is expected to be completed by 2020.
