The Roman Catholic Suburbicarian Diocese of Palestrina is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church covering a region in Italy. It was created in 1668 and its cathedral is the Basilica of Saint Agapitus, the patron saint of the city of Palestrina. The diocese was created to address the needs of the local population and is one of the eight suburbicarian dioceses that are immediately subject to the Holy See, meaning that the pope has power over them independent of the Roman Curia. There are currently four active chapels and two regular pastors of the diocese, who also serve as vicars General. The diocese also maintains several monastic communities, including the Benedictines of San Clemente, the Servites of the Holy Cross and the Friars Minor. The diocese encompasses several towns in the vicinity of Palestrina, including Civita Castellana, Monte Compatri and San Cesareo. It covers a total area of 1,143 km².
