It is open daily from 9am to 7.30pm with exceptional opening times from 10am to 6pm on 24th, 25th and 31st December, 1st Jan and 1st May. History:

The Museo di Roma dates back to 1973 when it was founded, but the building itself dates back to the 16th century when it was originally an Augustinian convent dedicated to St. Egidio. In 1880, the building was occupied by the Collegio Romano, from where the famous “Holy Office” declared the Roman Catholic dogma and encyclicals, and in 1889 it was purchased by the Ministry of Education. The building underwent a major renovation in the late 1980s, when it was stripped of its Baroque façade and converted into the current museum. Museo di Roma

Museo di Roma is located in the historic center of Rome, on the right bank of the Tiber River. It is a short walk from the Capitoline Hill and the Pantheon, and is close to public transportation routes, such as the 63, 64, 70 and 75 buses. You can also get there by metro, with a stop at Colosseo or Termini Stations. The nearby train station of Roma Termini is also a convenient option.
