Worship Method:

Gurudwara Shri Panj Peeran Sahib is an important place of worship for the Sikh faith. The Gurudwara is situated inside the sacred precincts of Fatehgarh Sahib and it is a place dedicated to the memory of Panj Pyare; the five beloved ones of the holy Guru Gobind Singhji. In the Gurudwara, there is an Ardaas (the communal prayer) which is performed three times a day, in the morning, noon and evening. During the prayers, the worshipers gather around the Guru Granth Sahib (the Sikh holy scriptures) and sing hymns of praise, seek blessings, and receive the blessings of Guru Sahib. In the Gurudwara, the devotees also take part in the Kirtan (the chanting of hymns) and Seva (the service of the Sikh faith). During the kirtan, devotional hymns are sung with deep concentration and faith, seeking the blessings of Guru Sahib. In the seva, the devotees offer food to the Guru and seek his blessings. The main event that takes place in the Gurudwara is Akhand Path (uninterrupted reading of the Guru Granth Sahib). This path is organised for special days and occasions such as the birth anniversaries of the Gurus and other important dates in Sikh history. During the Akhand Path, the Guru Granth Sahib is read aloud for 48 hours, and during this time, the seva takes place continuously. The rituals and procedures of the Gurudwara Shri Panj Peeran Sahib are based upon those of other Sikh Gurudwaras in Punjab. On entering the main hall, the devotees bow down their heads in reverence and salute the Guru Granth and all present in the Gurudwara. They then proceed towards the Takht and take a bath in the holy Amritsar (the holy pool) to purify themselves before the Divine. They also perform the Paath (the reciting of the holy scriptures) after which they have a fellowship of community prayers and blessings. This most visited temple in Punjab
