Worship Method:

The worship method of Gurudwara Shri Khara Sauda Sahib is similar to many other Sikh Gurudwaras. Traditionally, the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book, is placed on a Takht or a podium. A Sewadar (person responsible for service) chants the morning prayer or ‘Ardas’ in the ‘Diwan Hall’. This is followed by a langar or communal meal. After the langar, people line up for the singing of ‘Kirtan’ or congregational singing by a professional Kirtan group. Finally, the Guru Granth Sahib is processed around the ‘parikarma’ or circumambulation of the Gurudwara. All visitors are expected to take off their shoes and cover their heads in the Gurudwara. At the completion of the parikarma, a final ‘Ardas’ is done and the ‘Prakash’ or illumination of the Guru Granth Sahib is done. This concludes the Gurudwara Shri Khara Sauda Sahib worship service.
