History:
Sé de Lisboa was established by King Afonso Henriques in 1147. It was initially used as a royal royal chapel but eventually became the center of the archdiocese after the Council of Trent in 1545. The church was destroyed in the great Lisbon earthquake of 1755, but was rebuilt and reopened in 1811. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Portugal.

The Sé de Lisboa consists of six sections and two towers, making it the largest Gothic-style church in Portugal. Its main chapel holds the remains of patron saints, Afonso V, King Manuel I, and John V. The roof of the main chapel is decorated with 24 panels depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ.

Sé de Lisboa offers parish services including Masses, baptisms, funerals, and confirmation. It is also the venue for special liturgies such as solemn vespers and ordination ceremonies.
