History:

Wat Phuang Kaeo was built by King Rama I during the late 18th century. It is believed that the temple got its name after a hurricane struck the temple and destroyed its ancient structure. Later, the temple was reconstructed and re-consecrated in remembrance of the late king’s Royal Grandmother, Queen Amphan and her title “Luang Phuang Kaeo”, which translates as “Lucky emerald”.
