- Wat Phuang Kaeo was built by King Rama I in 1783, during the late 18th century. - The temple is also known as the “little temple of the Emerald Buddha”. - The temple houses the relic of the Emerald Buddha, the most important Buddhist relic in Thailand - Inside the temple, visitors can find sculptures made from wood, plaster, and bronze, as well as paintings. - The temple also contains the royal tombs of the Chakri Dynasty, including the tombs of Rama I and Rama II. History:
Wat Phuang Kaeo was built by King Rama I during the late 18th century. It is believed that the temple got its name after a hurricane struck the temple and destroyed its ancient structure. Later, the temple was reconstructed and re-consecrated in remembrance of the late king’s Royal Grandmother, Queen Amphan and her title “Luang Phuang Kaeo”, which translates as “Lucky emerald”. Travel:
Wat Phuang Kaeo is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bangkok. The temple is located close to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, two major attractions in Bangkok. Visitors can reach Wat Phuang Kaeo by taking the Chao Phraya Express boat from the Phra Nakhon pier. Alternatively, visitors can take the MRT to the Ayutthaya station and head south for about a quarter of an hour.
