Discover - Wat Pa Phu Kratae - Fact, History and Travel Information

Wat Pa Phu Kratae is a Buddhist temple located in Tha Uthen district of Samut Prakan Province, Thailand. It is a place of spiritual retreat for Buddhist devotees and a popular tourist destination. The site includes a tranquil temple complex and a beautiful 20-rai park filled with colorful statues and structures. The temple's history goes back to the late 19th century, when a monk from nearby Wat Rakat Chao Phar placed a small Buddha image in a cave by a river near the village of Ban Phu Kratae. The Buddha image is said to have kept the village safe from flood and other natural disasters. The site eventually grew into a temple complex and was named Wat Pa Phu Kratae in 1909. Today, Wat Pa Phu Kratae has become a popular destination for Buddhist pilgrims and tourists. The site includes a main chedi (pagoda), five viharns (prayer halls), seven Buddha statues, a wihan (assembly hall), and a meditation area. The temple is known for its colorful decorations, and visitors can admire the large Bodhi trees and an intricate black-and-white mural of the Buddha's life story on the courtyard walls. There is also a nearby park filled with more than 200 statues of Buddha and other religious figures. The park is especially popular during the full moon, when visitors can enjoy performances and live music around the clock.
