Phuoc Vien Pagoda has a layered roof and is built on a descending platform. The temple complex consists of many chambers dedicated to various divinities. Phuoc Vien Pagoda is Vietnam's longest operating pagoda, having been established in 1698. It is also one of the country's most popular tourist attractions, as well as one of the few places in the world where Buddhism is still practiced in its purest form. The temple is a member of the World Heritage Site and is an important national monument of Vietnam.
History:
The original Phuoc Vien Pagoda was constructed in 1698. It was built as a place for Buddhist monks to gather for religious ceremonies and was part of a network of pagodas that extended across Vietnam. During the French colonization of Vietnam, the pagoda was damaged and eventually demolished. However, the Vietnamese people rebuilt the pagoda in 1933, restoring it to its original condition.
