Overview:
Phukhao Suan Kwang Forest Park is located in Lampang province of northern Thailand and is part of the National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department. The park covers an area of 410 hectares and was established as a conservation area in 1965. It is one of the few remaining patches of lowland forest in the region and shelters a wide variety of habitats such as evergreen forest, dry evergreen forest and mixed deciduous forest. -The park is home to a variety of endangered bird species, including the white-tailed sea eagle, serpent eagle and white-rumped shama. -The largest lake in the park is Khaema Lake, which covers an area of approximately 2,160 hectares. -The park is home to several species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish. -The average annual temperature of the park ranges from 18-31°C, with an average annual rainfall of 1,459 mm. History:
The history of the park dates back to 1965, when it was declared a conservation area by the government of Thailand. The main objective of the park's creation was to protect the unique bird species that inhabit the region, particularly those found in the surrounding wetlands and swamps. Travel:
If you'd like to visit the park, the nearest airport is located in Lampang, from which you can easily reach the park by car or taxi. There are also several accommodation options located close by, ranging from budget-friendly to luxurious. The park is open for visitors every day, although it is best to visit during the months of November to February, when the temperature and humidity are lower. When you enter the park, you will find several trails that lead you to different areas, including the waterfalls, forests and swamps.
