Facts:
Phu Thap Boek is part of a complex of limestone hills, mountain ridges, and terraces that contain an important archaeological record. In 1995, a joint Thai-Australian expedition to explore and document the region unearthed the remains of an ancient human settlement. Over 30 human burials were found at Phu Thap Boek, including both Bronze and Iron Age cultures, as well as a variety of artifacts and evidence of pottery making. Phu Thap Boek
History:
The history of Phu Thap Boek goes back for centuries. It is believed that the site was first settled by Khmer people in the 5th century AD. The Khmer peoples constructed Buddhist temples at the site, and some of these structures are still standing today. During the mid-16th century AD, the area was ruled by the Thai Sukhothai kingdom.
