The Phra Phutthapatima Ayutthaya Phakdinuson is built in the Thai architectural style and features a three-tiered structure. The lower level is known as the Muang or Core, the middle level is known as the Prasat or Chapel and the top level is known as the Phutthasala or Shrine. Each level has its own unique decorative motifs of gold and enamel. • The Phra Phutthapatima Ayutthaya Phakdinuson is also known as the ‘Sanctuary of the Sacred Buddha’. • It is believed that the site was commissioned by King Rama II and dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. • It is made up of three concentric circles, each with a different level of symbolic finery. • The base of the shrine is believed to contain a relic of a famous monk who is said to have meditated on the site. The Phra Phutthapatima Ayutthaya Phakdinuson is believed to have been constructed during the reign of King Rama II of the Chakri dynasty in the early 19th century.
