Discover - Mosque Islam Village 4 ( Kemrak Phumin Twon) - Fact, History and Travel Information
Overview:
The village is situated along the border between Thailand and Laos and is made up of over 700 people from four main ethnic groups: Muslim, Thai, Lao and Isan. There are eight Buddhist temples and one mosque. Of the eight temples, five are for meditation and three are for ceremonial purposes. Aside from the mosque, religious icons and Buddhist figures can be found in the various public places around the village.

Mosque Islam Village 4 (Kemrak Phumin Twon) is considered a rare example of interfaith coexistence and tolerance in a multi-ethnic and transnational context, featuring a unique synergy of Thammabhirom's modern vision and traditional Buddhist-Thai cultural practices. It also serves as a bastion against extremism and a model for peaceful social integration.
History:
Before the founding of Mosque Islam Village 4, the Thai-Lao border area was marked by border skirmishes and religious disputes. When Thammabhirom came to the region in the early 1990s, these tensions were at their height and the region was known for religious and social tensions between Muslims, Buddhists, and other ethnic groups. Thammabhirom leveraged his influence and personal network to bring people of different faiths and backgrounds together through the founding of the Village.
Travel:
Mosque Islam Village 4 (Kemrak Phumin Twon) is open to visitors and both day and overnight stays are allowed. Visitors may explore the traditional Muslim-Thai-Lao architecture and experience the diverse culture, food and customs of the local people. There are many local attractions and activities such as trekking, fishing and traditional markets. There is also a wealth of Buddhist temples and natural sights in the nearby countryside.
