History:
The Monastery of Phuoc Thien is believed to have been built during the reign of the 15th century Champa Kingdom in Ho Chi Minh City. It was originally commissioned by Emperor Quoc Gia who wanted a place of worship for the Buddhist community in the area. The Monastery was built atop the Deo Kho Hill which is located in the center of the city. Travel:
The Monastery of Phuoc Thien is located in Ho Chi Minh City and is easily accessible via public transport. Visitors can take a taxi or the city’s tram and bus lines to reach the Monastery. The Monastery is open to tourists from 8am to 6pm everyday and visitors are expected to dress modestly when visiting the temple. There are several attractions located near the Monastery such as the Reunification Palace, the War Remnants Museum and the Notre Dame Cathedral.
