Overview:
Doi Phu Kha Non-hunting is located in protected area in northern Thailand, and is one of the most bio diverse regions in the world, with many rare species of plants and animals. The area is part of the Wiang Pa Pao district in Chiang Rai and encompasses both the Thai side of the mountain and the adjacent areas in Myanmar.
Facts:
Doi Phu Kha Non-hunting Area is a protected area set up in 1998 by the Royal Thai Forestry Department. It is located in Northern Thailand, on the border between Thailand and Myanmar. It encompasses around 5,000 square kilometers and is home to over 1,600 species of plants and animals, including the endangered Red Siamese Crocodile. It is also home to many rare species of plants and animals, and is considered to be of high priority for biodiversity conservation and scientific research.
History:
Doi Phu Kha Non-hunting Area was declared a national non-hunting area in 1998. Since then, it has become a haven for conservation efforts, with many organizations working together to protect and restore the area. In 2017, the area was also declared an ASEAN Heritage Park.
Travel:
Doi Phu Kha Non-hunting Area is located in Chiang Rai, on the border between Thailand and Myanmar. It is accessible by car from both Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. There are several villages in the region which offer accommodation and tourism activities, such as hiking, elephant trekking, and bird watching. There is also a visitor center where visitors can learn about the area’s history and get information about the various activities on offer.
