Christ the King Cathedral is a cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church located in the heart of Quezon City, Philippines. It is the headquarters of the Archdiocese of Manila and is dedicated to Christ the King. It was designed by National Artist for Architecture, Leandro Locsin, and was dedicated on its completion in 1973. The cathedral is noted for its use of reinforced concrete and its circular form. History Christ the King Cathedral was erected in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Manila. Construction began in 1968 and was finished in 1973. Facts The cathedral is 54 meters tall and can seat up to 4,400 people. It has two main towers and its circular shape has come to represent the cornerstones of the Catholic faith; the Communion of Saints, the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, and the Apostolic Succession. Services Christ the King Cathedral offers Mass daily in both English and Filipino. There are weekly celebrations of the Divine Office and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. It also hosts numerous other devotional gatherings such as wake services and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. It provides the residents of Quezon City, Manila and its surrounding areas with spiritual sustenance and support.
