Brief History:
is the oldest mosque in Muscat which includes four minarets belonging to its four wives. The mosque was built some time in the late 16th Century or early 17th Century and is said to have been the private place of worship for the four wives of Imam Sultan bin Saif Al Yamani. Due to its location, the mosque is also often referred to as the Four Minarets Mosque. The mosque underwent renovations during the reign of Sultan Qaboos bin Said and is now an important landmark on the Corniche near the Royal Opera House. It includes a large landscaped garden with beautiful flower beds, a large fountain and four large minarets. The mosque also contains the tombs of two important Islamic scholars. The Al Qurum West North South East Mosque in Oman is constructed in an Islamic architectural style. The mosque is a medium-sized building with two main minarets and four corner minarets that are shaped in traditional Arabic style. The walls of the mosque are painted in green and the rooftop is covered in gold-colored tiles. The mosque has a courtyard that is surrounded by arched gates, and is encircled with a lush garden. Inside the mosque, there is a prayer hall that is surrounded by two rows of columns, and features a mihrab with a marble jaali. The mosque is also surrounded by two minaret balconies, that are accessible from the rooftop. The dome of the mosque is constructed with a dome-shaped roof and consisting of a four-three tier system that is ornamented with floral and geometric designs. Visitors at Al Qurum Mosque must abide by the following visitation hours: - Tuesday and Thursday: 12PM to 2PM - Saturday and Sunday: 3PM to 5PM The mosque is not open for visitation on Monday and Wednesday.
