Brief History:
is a 16th century mosque located in Al Qalhat, which is a region in the Governorate of Muscat. It is believed to have been built in 1580 by order of Queen Arwa al-Sulaiti, who was the ruler of Muscat and Oman at the time. The mosque is one of the few Islamic monuments remaining from the old Portuguese period. It is said to have been built in a similar style to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The mosque consists of one prayer room and a courtyard, and it is decorated with marble columns, floral designs and arabesque carvings. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Al Qalhat Central Mosque in Oman is a traditional stone building designed in a traditional Islamic architectural style. It is a rectangular building with a large central dome, surrounded by four smaller domes at the corners. The interior of the mosque is decorated with ornate stucco designs and intricate calligraphy and paintings. The mosque has a vast prayer hall, with two minarets flanking the entrance. There is a stone pavement leading up to the main prayer hall, lined with gardens and coconut trees. The mosque has an open courtyard, with several fountains and a fish pond. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

The closest major airport is Muscat International Airport, which is located approximately 158 kilometers (98 miles) away. The closest public transportation station is the Al Qalhat Bus Station, located just a few blocks from the mosque.
