Brief History:

: Al Ayn North East Mosque is located in the town of Al Ayn in the Governorate of A’Dhahirah. It was built in the early-mid 19th century and is considered one of the oldest mosques in Oman. It is a two storey structure with a surrounding wall, and has a distinctive dome that can be seen from afar. The mosque was renovated and expanded in 2014 to accommodate a larger congregation and now has a capacity of up to 700 people. Architecture:

The Al Ayn North East Mosque was built by master craftsmen from the Muttrah and A’Seeb regions of Oman in 2007. The structure consists of a two-level prayer hall, three dome towers, a balcony and an auxiliary area to the north. The mosque has elaborate decoration with geometric designs and traditional Islamic motifs, and it is well-lit. The exterior walls feature engaged minarets and numerous false ogee vaults. Inside, the multiple domes are covered with Naqsh ( Persian-style mosaic) and frescoes. The interior layout is quite simple and has only one aisle. Additionally, there is a mihrab adjacent to the prayer hall, a minbar for the imam, and a minaret at the entrance door.
