Worship Method:
The worship at the Alarnatha Temple revolves around the darshan of Lord Vishnu's feet, known as Alarnath Paduka. Pilgrims stand in queues to have a darshan of the Paduka which is the main attraction and central point of the temple. Apart from the darshan, the temple has various other rituals and festivals which are conducted throughout the year to worship Lord Vishnu. These rituals include Abhisheka, Puja, Bhajans, Chanting of Mantras and Arti. The holy water is used for this ritual and is known as 'Bramha Teerthda'. During the Ratha Yatra or the "Chariot Festival", images of the Lord and his consort along with mythological characters are placed on the chariot and taken around the temple, giving devotees an opportunity to have a darshan of them. Likewise, during Dussehra special rituals are held where the idols of the Lord and his consorts are taken out in processions accompanied by a large number of devotees. Maha Shivratri, Janmashtami and Holi are also celebrated with great pomp and fanfare. Devotees offer different kinds of offerings such as fruits and flowers to the Lord. They also take part in 'Parikrama' or circumambulation of the temple in order to express their devotion.
