Bragernes Church was built in 1748 for Ove and Elen Gulbrandsen, the owners of the Bragernes farm in Drammen. Its construction was made possible by public subscription, a fact represented by the fact that the names of more than 70 local donors and supporters have been inscribed on a stone tablet inside the church. The church has gone through some modifications over the years, such as an 1820 renovation that included the erection of a new spire.
