The church was founded in 1995 by Dr.Samuel and Mrs. Beatrice Wanjiru during a retreat in the forest at the foot of Mt. Kenya.Dr. Wanjiru was an Ob/Gyn doctor and left his practice to move with his family back to his hometown of Nairobi. He had a vision to start a Christian ministry and began holding weekly Bible studies in a school hall. With the help of his family and friends, Daystar Christian Centre was born. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Nigeria.
