Worship Method:
The Pachali Bhairabh form of worship is one of the most important and prestigious forms of worship in the country of Nepal. The Pachali Bhairabh is an incarnation of Shiva and is often referred to as the aam avtaar. The Pachali Bhairabh is placed in the central position in temples dedicated to him and can be worshipped in either linga form or in five face form. As per this form of worship, devotees offer prayers to the deity in five steps. These include: 1. Inviting Pachaali Bhairabh- In this first step of Pachaali Bhairabh worship, devotees invite the deity to the altar with the help of offerings like incense, flowers and food. 2. Offering Prasad- In the second step, devotees offer food, called “Prasad”, to the deity as a sign of devotion. 3. Offering Durva Grass- After offering the food or Prasad, devotees offer durva grass, which is believed to have the power to wash away all sins. 4. Applying Holy Water- On this stage, devotees apply holy water, made out of the mixture of milk, curd, honey, sugar and ghee, to the face of the deity. 5. Lighting up Dhoop- The fifth step involves lighting up dhoops in the front of the deity and offering mantras. These mantras are said to have the power to remove obstacles and bring good fortune. How to reach:
Pachali Bhairabh is located in Pachali Bhanjyang, Pharping Municipality, Kathmandu, Nepal. It can be reached by both private and public transportation. From Kathmandu, take the Prithvi Highway and get off at the Khokana Junction. Then take the road that leads to Sayapatri and drive for about 6 kilometres until you reach Dadhikot village. After Dadhikot, take a vehicle to Pachali Bhanjyang. From there, it is just a few kilometre walk to Pachali Bhairabh. Alternatively, there is a bus available from Kathmandu Bus Park to Pachali Bhanjyang. The bus is available at intervals of every 30 minutes from the morning till late afternoon.
