Worship Method:

Chhabdi Barahi Mandir is an ancient temple in the village of Chhabdi, in Nepal. It is a popular pilgrimage site, and is believed to be one of the four major Barahi temples in the Kathmandu Valley. The worship process of Chhabdi Barahi Temple begins with the offering of flowers, incense, and fruits to the deity at the entrance of the temple. This act is followed by the chanting of a special prayer known as the ‘Chhudien’ or ‘Rando’ that is chanted with an aim to seek blessing from the goddess. Many devotees also make offerings to the priests who serve the temple. Once the offerings and prayers are complete, the offerings are placed in the main shrine of the temple. The pilgrims then light a traditional oil lamp, fill a small silver urn with water and perform the ‘Abhisek’ or ‘abhisheka’ ritual inside the shrine. This ritual is followed by offering sweets, fruits and food to the deity, singing devotional songs and offering incense. Finally, the pilgrims make a final blessing by sprinkling flower petals around the deity. Pilgrims usually end their experience by making a final offering of coins and grains at the feet of the goddess. As a mark of their gratitude and devotion, they also wrap a red cloth around the deity and receive her blessings before taking her divine blessings with them while departing.
