Pastor Peter Akinola founded the Maranatha Christian Centre in 1971 as a local Bible Study group in a rented room. The group quickly expanded and soon had its own building. In 1975, the church was officially registered and it has grown steadily ever since. Pastor Akinola was instrumental in bringing charismatic worship and teaching to Nigeria which has impacted churches across the land. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Namibia.
