Rhenish Church is an offshoot of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), an organization made up of Evangelical Lutherans, Reformed Christians, and United Protestants. The Rhenish Church was founded in 1819 by the Prussian government to provide a space for free-thinkers and the newly Protestant, dissenters from the ruling Lutheran and Reformed denominations, who were new or different from the traditional Christian faith and practice.
