History:

The church was established in 1912 by German colonists and missionaries under the name of Luthersicher Gärtnerkirche. After the First World War, the church changed its name to NG Kerk Windhoek West. In 1958 the church was officially registered with the then newly formed South West Africa denomination of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Namibia.
