Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk In Namibia: History,Facts, & Services

The Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk (NGK) is a South African religious denomination which is the result of Spanish Reformers and members of the Dutch Reformed Church who, under the leadership of Dirk Postma, broke away from the Dutch Reformed Church in the late 1800's. The NGK is a Christian denomination in the Reformist tradition and adheres to the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, as well as the Canons of Dort. It follows a blend of presbyterian and congregational forms of church government. The Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk was officially founded in 1859 and currently has over 600 churches, mostly in South Africa, but with a growing number in neighbouring countries. The Church's main focus is evangelism, social justice and its commitment to the mission work largely taking place in Africa. The Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk provides a range of services, from running conferences and camps, to providing chaplaincy services through professional staff members. It also offers support in mission work and spiritual stewardship, running programs and events in the wider community. Additionally, it offers Bible study and counselling services.
