History:
is a small village and former princely state situated in the Almora district of Uttarakhand, India. It is located around 41 km from the district headquarters of Almora. Tungath was originally part of the Chand Empire, and later became a princely state under the rule of the Katyuri dynasty. The village was home to a number of Hindu temples and shrines. The last ruling chief of the princely state was Raja Pratap Pal, who died in 2007. Tungath is currently under the administration of the Almora district and is governed by the Block Development Officer, Almora. Tungath is surrounded by lush green forests and managed by the Waldforest Division of the Uttarakhand government. The village is also close to Ramakrishnananda Ashram, a holy place of pilgrimage.
