Worship Method:
The daily worship of Shri Krishna at Shri Nathdwara Temple follows a very strict set of rituals. The worship begins with the opening of the temple gates early in the morning, after which the priest performs aarti with burning camphor. Then, the priest completes several ceremonial steps to invoke Lord Krishna's presence. After the ritual prayers, the priest begins the puja or worship with the offering of various items such as sandalwood paste, flowers, honey, ghee, and incense. Later, the offering of ghee is made to the murti or idol of Lord Krishna. This is followed by the offering of puja items and religious chants. Once the puja is complete, the priest then offers bonfires to the Lord, which are used for sacred fire offerings. As the pooja reaches completion devotees shuffle around the shrine and offer their prayers. In accordance with the ancient Hindu tradition, a sanctified Kheer offering is then made to Lord Krishna symbolizing love and devotion. The worshippers offer prasad or religious food items to Lord Krishna to honor him and seek his blessings. Finally, the temple doors are shut with the ringing of bells in a ritualistic fashion.
