The worship method of Shri Digambar Jain Bada Mandir in Varanasi is based on traditional rituals and beliefs of Jainism. Before entering the temple, devotees perform puja (prayer) with sandalwood, sweets, and fruits. They also perform Aartis (chanting and prayers), and offer their respects to the holy Tirthankaras. Then the devotees offer prayers while circumambulating the sanctum of the temple three times and also perform Pradakshina (walking around the temple sanctum). After the prayer, the devotees participate in the daily pujas that are performed at the temple. Among these puja rituals are Dhwajaarohanam (hoisting the flag), Akhanda Deeparadhana (continuous worship with lamps), Laksharchana (worshipping different set of deities every day), Durga Sahasranama puja (reciting the thousand names of the goddess), and Homa puja (fire worship).
