Worship Method:
In Kavil Sri Bhadrakali Temple of Kerala, devotees worship Goddess Bhadrakali through offering of pujas (rituals), chanting of mantras and devotional songs, and offering of flowers, holy water and garments. The pooja rituals at the temple include Kalashapooja to mark the beginning of the pooja. For the main pooja, coconut, honey, flowers, and fruits are offered to the Goddess. Followed by this is Abhishekam, wherein devotees offer flowers, prayers, and chants. Pradakshinam, an act of walking around the temple to show reverence, is also performed by the devotees. After this, devotees offer flowers, camphor, incense sticks, and other materials as part of the pooja. To complete the pooja, aarti is performed and devotional songs are sung. Apart from these poojas, daily rituals like Tirtha Prasadam (offering from holy water), Shodasopachara (16 types of offerings) and Utsava poojas are also performed. Kavil Sri Bhadrakali Temple is located in Velloor, a small village in Kottayam District of Kerala State. To reach the temple, one can take any direct bus from Vaikom, Thalayolaparambu or Pala Bus Station to Velloor. The distance from Vaikom is 16 km, from Thalayolaparambu is 15 km and from Pala is 22 km. The journey takes around 20 to 30 minutes.
