Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is a sacred ritual, which is conducted every day at sunset. It is the main event of the day, attracting a number of devotees and pilgrims from all over the world. The aarti begins with the ringing of the bells, followed by a prayer to the river Ganges. Devotees light a number of earthen lamps or Diyas, and offer flowers to the river. Mantras and hymns are chanted in reverence to the Goddess Ganga. After this, they rotate their lamps clockwise, offering light to the divine spirit residing in the river.
