The New Apostolic Church was founded in Mozambique in 1987, when members of the society in Malaysia, who were familiar with the movement, asked the head of the society in Maputo to establish a branch of the church in Mozambique. The formation of branches in Tete and Beira followed soon thereafter. The first Apostles were appointed by District Apostle Max Sauter of the “Apostolic Society” during a meeting held in July 1989.
