Worship Method:
The worship method of the Durgiana Temple is a mix of both Hindu and Sikh traditions. During the daily pujas (prayer rituals), both Hindu and Sikh scriptures and mantras are chanted. Throughout the day, worshippers can be seen performing various rituals including reciting mantras, circumambulating around the inner sanctum, performing Aartis (circling of the deity with lamps), meditating, and offering prasad (sacred food offerings). The daily puja is performed in the morning starting around 6 am and lasting until 8 am. During this period, several pujas, including the Maha Abhishek (Holy bathing of deity with particular liquids such as water, milk and honey) are performed. At the end of the puja, the priests offer prasadam to the worshippers. The temple complex is also an important pilgrimage site for Sikhs, and it encourages the veneration of Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikh faith. Sikh devotees travel from across the region to offer prayer and participate in devotional singing, called kirtans. The Akhand Path (uninterrupted recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib) is held twice a day at the temple complex, at 2 pm and 6 pm, and visitors are welcome to participate.
