Worship Method:

The worship method at Anandpur Sahib Gurudwara in Punjab follows the basic Sikh teachings. Generally, visitors will begin their visit to the gurudwara by standing and folding their hands in prayer as they enter the premises. Followers of the Sikh faith then recite the ‘Langar Nasar’ before entering the main hall. Langar Nasar is a prayer which is said before entering a gurudwara, seeking the blessings and guidance from the Almighty. Once inside the gurudwara, visitors will offer money in the donation boxes and take a few moments to pay their respects to Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh faith. This is typically followed by offering Prasad in the form of flowers, fruits or sweets. The worship ritual will then begin with bowing heads to the ground to Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of Sikhs. It is placed on a raised platform called a Takhat or Holy Throne. All the devotees will then bow in respect and offer their prayers with folded hands. The worship ends in the form of ‘Kirtan’ or singing of hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib, accompanied by musical instruments like Harmonium, Sarangi, and Tabla. After the kirtan is over, devotees receive ‘Prasad’ or sweet offerings blessed by the Guru Granth Sahib.
