The mosque underwent redevelopment in 1718 and again in 1810, but the original structure is still evident. The mosque hosts the majority of Friday prayers near the main square of Trabzon. It is now a listed cultural monument of local importance and has become one of the most visited sites in the city. The mosque features a large courtyard, a single-domed minaret, an ablution fountain, a prayer hall and a pulpit. The mosque has a single dome (göbeği) that is supported by four marble pillars and eight decorative columns. Inside the mosque, there are four small rooms that are positioned in an east-west direction, with the mihrab, minbar, and qibla wall located toward the south side. The portico of the mosque is decorated with turquoise and cobalt blue tiles which were stamped with the "blue tulip" design that was popular in the Ottoman Empire. The rest of the mosque interior is covered with blue, red, and yellow tiles that depict vegetal medallions, geometric motifs, and depictions of Ottoman leaders.
