The church was founded in the 13th century, although it was extensively rebuilt in the 14th century. Records indicate that there was a church on the site of Stoke St Michael’s as early as 1288, when it was granted by local nobility to the Prior and Convent of Coventry. It is built of sandstone and has a tower and spire. Two prominent figures associated with the church are Robert Jelf, the rector from 1556-1590, and John Brome, the rector from 1610-1620.
