The church is currently part of the united benefice of Uckfield, which also includes St Peter's Church in Uckfield. It is one of the best churches in England which you must visit.

History:

St Mark's Church was built between 1841 and 1843 following a private act of parliament in 1841. The building was originally described as "a chapel of ease to Uckfield", suggesting that it was meant as a smaller place of worship than St Peter's in Uckfield. The cost of building was met by the local community, with land donated by the Earl of Sheffield and contributions from members of the local gentry. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.
