St Andrew's Church has served the Deal community since the 13th century, with its first recorded mention in 1298. The church is thought to have been built on the site of a Norman church. It is believed that the church once had a tower, as King Charles I is said to have watched his fleet from it during the siege of Deal Castle in 1648. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.
