Pyramid of Sahure is an ancient Egyptian pyramid located in Abusir, Egypt, just south of Cairo. It is thought to be the oldest pyramid in the region, and was built during the 5th dynasty of the Old Kingdom. It consists of a core of six stepped layers surrounded by an outer casing of beautifully dressed limestone blocks. The pyramid is also noteworthy for its extensive decorations and well-preserved hieroglyphic inscriptions.
